Village Weaver

Most of the posts here will be of birds in Aotearoa New Zealand, because that’s where I live, but I will always take my camera travelling so anything is possible.

I have a quite rich vein of photos I took at Jurong Bird Park in Singapore, in April 2019, and this post comes from there.

This male Village Weaver (Ploceus cucullatus) was one of many birds I photographed in the Waterfall Aviary. It is a sub-Sahara African native, but has also been introduced into a variety of other locations such as Portugal and Venezuela. In Singapore, it is a zoo species only.

I’d like to give a quick shout out to the wonderful people over on the ZooChat community, who helped me check all my species were correct for my Jurong photos.
