A slightly unusual post in that this species has already featured on the site. However, I’m making this (so far only) exception as this photo is of a very young Black Swan (Kakīānau, Cygnus atratus).

Taken at the beautiful Lake Rotoiti in the Bay of Plenty (not to be confused with its better-known namesake in Nelson Lakes National Park), I did not realise the moment I had captured until much later when reviewing my photos.
