The bird is in flight with wings just below level with characteristic drooping tips. The sky behind is a dull grey.

Tākapu

The Tākapu (Australasian Gannet, Morus serrator) is a large, elegant seabird found all around Aotearoa New Zealand’s coasts. I have seen them in Wellington Harbour on many occasions.

This one was cruising past me while I was standing on the sea wall adjacent to Wellington International Airport.
