The image shows three ducks swimming in a calm pond. They are aligned diagonally from the bottom left to the center right of the image. The ducks appear to be brown with speckled patterns on their feathers, and they have dark beaks. The water reflects a gentle ripple effect around them. In the background, there is a dense growth of tall green reeds along the water's edge, which is reflected in the water, creating a serene, natural environment. The lighting suggests it's a bright sunny day.

Pāteke

The Pāteke (Brown Teal, Anas Chlorotis) is a rare endemic waterfowl that we are very lucky to have living in the Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne eco-sanctuary in Wellington.

I’ve seen them a number of times, but photographing them has been a challenge. This trio were swimming about in the small wetland area above the lower lake.
