The picture shows a close-up of a hornbill bird. It has a prominent, large yellow beak with a casque (a hollow structure) on top. The bird's eye is surrounded by a patch of bare blue skin, and it has black feathers on its head and neck. The background is a blur of green foliage.

Papuan Hornbill

Male Papuan Hornbills (Rhyticeros plicatus) have a rich golden-orange head, which means this striking bird is a female.

She was one of several at a feeding station in the Wings of Asia aviary at Singapore’s Mandai Bird Paradise.
