The image shows a bird perched on a green leafy plant. The bird has a striking appearance with a deep black head, back, and chest. Its underparts and the sides of its belly are a rich, burnt orange color. The bird's eyes are bright yellow, and it has a sharp, pointed black beak. The surrounding foliage is green with some yellow stems, and the background is a soft, blurred mix of greens and yellows, suggesting a natural, leafy habitat.

Chestnut-and-black Weaver

The Chestnut-and-black Weaver (Ploceus castaneofuscus) is a striking bird of the weaver family, native to West Africa.

It should come as no surprise, then, that this example was in the Heart of Africa aviary at Mandai Bird Paradise in Singapore.
