The bird is perched on a high twig, seen side on against a bright blue sky. Its wings are held slightly away from its body.

Blackbird

The Blackbird (Manu Pango, Turdus Merula) is a common sight in every suburban garden, park, and reserve in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Often dull to look at in their typical settings, a glossy male can be quite attractive… no not just to the females.

This example was seen at Waimanu Lagoons at Waikanae Beach.
