Tara

The Tara (White-fronted Tern, Sterna striata) is the most commonly seen tern in Aotearoa New Zealand, being found around the entire coastline.

They are often seen in flocks, sometimes numbering in the hundreds, though this specimen was one of a handful hunkering down on Napier’s shingle beach.
