Korimako

One of my favourite endemic species is the Korimako (Bellbird, Anthornis melanura). It is a handsome bird, but not showy, and has a beautiful song.

While classified as Locally Abundant, I don’t see many. I have seen them in my neighbourhood and even in my own back garden, but these are uncommon sightings. This one was in Zealandia, where I see at least one every visit.
