A Common Chaffinch (Pahirini) singing from a small tree branch.

Chaffinch

The Chaffinch (Pahirini, Fringilla coelebs) is a very common introduced passerine and a frequent visitor to urban gardens across New Zealand year round.

This photo shows a male singing away in a tree in my back garden.

This photo was not taken in the middle of a main road; I don’t want to pinpoint a family home, so it’s in the general area.
