If you are ever in Rotorua and have the chance, Lake Okareka is a beautiful spot, only 15 minutes drive from the central city.

It has has an excellent reserve and walkway, from which I photographed this Canada Goose (Kuihi, Branta canadensis). It is a common, introduced bird seen all over New Zealand.

This one was part of a flock that flew over me while I was busy stalking waterfowl among the reeds.
