Tarāpunga

The Tarāpunga (Red-billed Gull, Larus novaehollandiae) is a well known part of coastal life in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Its cries go hand in hand with fish and chips at the beach and if you’re partaking of that meal, you’d best keep a sharp eye out as they love nothing more than to join you!

This photo was taken at just such a fish and chip-eating spot at Paraparaumu Beach.
