When I visit Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne, I always look for the Pāteke (Brown Teal, Anas Chlorotis) in the wetland near the lower reservoir, or the stream leading to it. On this occasion, I didn’t need to look, as I came across a pair on the main path, Lake Road, near the lower Kākā feeders.
I stopped to give them time to move on without pressure, and also took the opportunity to crouch down and take some photos.
