The image shows a colorful parrot perched on a metal feeder. The parrot has a vibrant array of feathers with a predominant display of green hues on its body, transitioning to yellow and orange towards the neck and head. The head itself is a striking red with a black beak, and there are subtle hints of blue on the tips of its wings. The background is a soft focus of greenery, likely plants or trees, which complements the parrot's natural colors.

Yellow-streaked Lory

The Yellow-streaked Lory (Chalcopsitta scintillata) is the bird that made me change one of my regional categories!

It is found in southern New Guinea and the Aru Islands. For this reason, I have expanded my Australia category to Australasia. While that region also includes Aotearoa New Zealand, you can safely assume birds categorised as such are not natives here.

This example was at a feeding station in the Lory Loft aviary at Mandai Bird Paradise, Singapore.
