The image shows a bird in mid-flight against a blurred background of a body of water. The bird is a swallow, identifiable by its streamlined body, long pointed wings, and forked tail. It has a dark blue or black back, a reddish-brown face and throat, and a white underbelly. The background is mostly blue with some greenish-brown areas.

Warou

My previous post of a Warou (Welcome Swallow, Hirundo neoxena) was at the limit of what I consider acceptable for inclusion on this site. The bird is relatively tiny in the frame.

I said on that post (see below) that they are difficult birds to photograph in flight. I stand by that statement — I got lucky!

I spent over 5 minutes just trying to capture Warou in flight at the Pauatahanui Wildlife Reserve, where around a dozen were wheeling around in front of me.
