The image shows a bird perched on a branch. The bird has a striking appearance with iridescent blue and green feathers on its wings and tail, and a brownish body. Its head is gray with a lighter gray around the neck, and it has a black beak with a slight curve. The bird's eyes are dark and alert. The branch it's perched on has small, yellowish-green leaves or buds, and the background is a blurred green, suggesting a lush environment.

Tūī

I have many photos of Tūī (Prosthemadera novaeseelandiae) taken around my home, but their abundance in the Wellington district also means they are a common sight in Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne.

This one posed beautifully for me on a Harakeke (flax) stem.
