The picture shows a small bird perched on a horizontal green branch. The bird appears fluffy with predominantly grey feathers, a hint of white around the neck, and some black and yellow markings near the tail. Korimako

As I described in my earlier post (see below), the Korimako (Bellbird, Anthornis melanura) is a handsome bird. That is… as an adult. This youngster looks a little more ruffled!

It was fully flight-capable, but apparently unable to feed itself. Instead, it followed Dad around the trees, constantly ‘wheeep’ing. When I first heard it, I thought it was a Hihi, it was so high pitched.
