The picture shows an African Grey Parrot perched on a branch. The bird has a predominantly grey plumage with a subtle scallop-like pattern. Its eyes are surrounded by a patch of white, and it has a black beak. Notably, there are accents of bright red on its tail feathers. The background is a lush green with leaves and branches, suggesting a natural, dense habitat.

African Grey Parrot

The African Grey Parrot (Psittacus erithacus) is a highly intelligent bird. Even wild birds have been observed to be excellent mimics, which unfortunately means it is highly sought after in the pet trade.

Between this and habitat destruction, they are classed as endangered even though over half a million birds are estimated to exist in the wild.

This one was present at feeding time in the Waterfall Aviary at Jurong Bird Park, Singapore.
